Break Out Those Old Records and Grind Out MP3's

3 speed record turntables are a really great and innovative piece of equipment for any DJ. Everybody I know loves music and that proven by the sheer number of sales with cellphones and ringtone purchases and Apple ipod phenomenon. The only other way that's better than hearing music in your ear through headphones is hearing it live at a club or party from a DJ who creates killer mixes across very loud monitors.

Accessories make up the rest of a dj's arsenal but of course the turntable is the bread and butter and now there is the 3 speed. Vinyl spinners are cool because of there art they still posses but don't get it twisted the new aged mp3 spinners with their laptops are crushing the game too. You just can't beat a usb setup when you have 4 crates of albums to dig through.

- Phonograph albums are more so for collecting nowadays because party payers just want the entertainment they don't care about the way it comes across in regards to vinyl verses mp3 unless you are spinning in the nyc.

As long as you are a great mixer and your turntables provide music through loud speakers for the most part you will be okay in this industry.

Every once and a while a client may ask if you are packing Numark or Pioneer in your gig bag and then you have to either smile or justify your position for not having them.

I tried deejay spinning for a hip hop party once and i had fun. I didn't have any expensive 3 speeds or anything like that but I knew what the crowd wanted to hear because I'm a producer by trade or should I say skill.

I couldn't sratchit or fade the tracks I could only give crowd the sounds they were craving to hear every 3 to 4 minutes. I did use a pair of headphones though and I must say that they only made me look cool because I hardly used them at all.

I didn't mention that it was for my son and he is only 10 years old so as long as i played songs by Soulja Boy and T.I. and other rap artist like them they were fine.
